Instructor Biographies
Kristopher J. Hurley: Lead Instructor
Mr. Hurley is the Lead Instructor for Direct Action Tactical Consultants. Mr. Hurley has completed 8 years with the United States Marine Corps, with background in the infantry with the 1st BN 6th Marines, Camp Lejeune, NC, as a gunner, team leader, and a section leader for a combined anti-armor team. Mr. Hurley conducted Joint Military Operations with foreign military, as well as operations supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Mr. Hurley was then accepted into the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community. He attended EOD School in Florida in 2004, and as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, Mr. Hurley was assigned to the Chemical Biological Incident Response force (CBIRF) EOD team.
While Mr. Hurley was attached to CBIRF, he participated in the 2005 Presidential Inauguration as an EOD asset. He attended and served as an instructor at the Weapons of Mass Destruction seminar in Indian Head, MD, which included members from US Military SOF, Local Law Enforcement Bomb Squad, SWAT, Fire Department Hazardous Devices, and International Military. He also trained Department of Defense personnel in Basic Demolitions. During this time, Mr. Hurley also transitioned to the Reserve component of the Marines, only to be activated for operations Enduring /Iraqi Freedom, which have included many missions that have helped expand his knowledge and tactical ability.
From 2006 through 2007, Mr. Hurley served as an instructor for the Center for Anti-Terrorism and Naval Security Forces. As a primary instructor for firearms and defensive tactics, Mr. Hurley also taught classes on tactical team movement, communications, IEDs, Terrorism, personnel/vehicle inspections, and range operations. He has also participated in various PSD/CP operations for numerous clients.
Mr. Hurley has completed a POST certified Police Academy and numerous Instructional development courses. He is a graduate of the USMC Dynamic Entry School, at Quantico, VA, and is a Close Combat/Marine Corps Martial Arts Black Belt Instructor. He has also attended the Special Operations Training Group (SOTG) Non-Lethal Weapons course, the Mountain Leaders course in Bridgeport CA, SOTG Jungle Warfare Training Center (JWTC) Camp Gonsalves Okinawa, the High Threat Protective Operations course (SCG), and the CBIRF Basic Course, where he graduated with Honor Man status.
Mr. Hurley is considered by his peers to be an expert in his field. He is currently operating in Afghanistan.
