IED/WMD Recognition
All IED/WMD Recognition instructors possess the following qualifications:
- Naval School Explosives Ordnance Disposal
- USMC Chemical Biological Incident Response force (CBIRF) EOD Team
- USMC Dynamic entry basic course
- Remotec robot maintenance course (EOD robot)
IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES
This course is designed to provide information on recognizing and avoiding improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and booby traps. Security Officers dealing with vehicle search responsibilities, assigned to overseas posts and related areas should attend this course, as well as law enforcement officers dealing with clandestine narcotics labs, the serving of High Risk Warrants/Hostage Rescue, etc.
Duration: 3 Days

Course content includes:
- Introduction and recognition of explosive materials.
- Introduction and recognition of booby traps and hazardous devices and components.
- Functioning systems.
- Explosive and non-explosive devices and recognition.
- Tactics used to deploy hazardous devices.
- Techniques to avoid hazardous devices in urban or rural environments.
- Incorporating avoidance techniques into tactical field operations.
